Balancing Work and Life is what I have been (and still am) struggling the most since I decided to run my own show.
What makes this even more challenging for me is the dual nature of my activities: providing expertise to my clients which is my core mission (and what I enjoy doing) and the tasks required to run a company (accounting, taxes, recruitment...). Add on top a family life (parents of twins anyone? Welcome to my world), some social interactions and you get an equation that is pretty hardcore to solve
Let's say it. Balancing work and life as a small business owner is a constant struggle, made of long hours, high-stress level and pressure. And at the end of the day, you still need to find the time and energy to look for clients
But let me tell you this: having a website impossible to ignore can make all the difference.
Here's why
Every business needs a stream of paying clients to keep the lights on: to attract these clients, you need to be visible and stand out from your competition and that requires resources that small and medium-sized businesses have in limited supply: budget and time.
In this context, investing in a website is the best decision you can make
A marketing website is the helping hand you need to present your company from its best angle to anyone, anywhere, anytime.
Past the initial investment in design and development, it is like having your best sales person answering potential clients requests 24/7 without any additional costs.
In other words, it scales! An optimized website can take over some of the work required to grow a business and educate clients , save you time and effort (and ultimately help you find a better work and life balance)
Once I realized that (and implemented it), I was able to significantly cut my cold prospection efforts and focus on transforming opportunities
And yet, too few make this investments because people get overwhelmed:
- They don't know how and where to start
- They have to define who they are, commit to this vision and risk being wrong
- They are required to take many little decisions without feeling qualified
It doesn't have to feel this way if you follow these simple steps
Don't let the fear of the unknown hold you back.
Define who you are, commit to this vision, and take those little decisions with confidence. Yes, there's always a risk of being wrong, but that's okay. The beauty of a website is that you can always change it, refine it, and make it better.

This is a mistake I did. I tried to do everything by my own and it left me mentally exhausted (who knew there were so many decisions to make on a website?). Hire a web designer who understands your needs and who can guide you through the process. A good web designer will work with you to define your vision, choose the right platform, create a site that truly represents your business and serve as an "echo" chamber to your own thoughts and save you time
I wrote a post on how to find the best web designer that you can find here

Selling value packed digital assets is particularly interesting for service companies that already offer knowledge and expertise to their clients: once the initial setup is done, it scales perfectly

Don't forget to optimize your keywords.
This will help you reach your target audience and show them that you understand their needs and challenges.
In conclusion, investing in a strong website can bring a much-needed balance to your life as a service business owner. It's not just a way to attract new clients and grow your business, it's a way to take control of your life and build a better future for yourself and your company.
So don't hesitate, take the leap, and see the difference for yourself (and let me know how it went)
